Our Founder, Ross Chun, has a lifetime a of experience volunteering for social causes and charitable endeavors. In his professional life, he has worked for a global humanitarian organization, a nationally recognized nonprofit and local organizations focused on solving the family homelessness and food insecurity crisis by providing short-term housing, counseling and family services.
"I've learned firsthand how important it is to support our nonprofits. I continue to focus on strengthening those organizations whose mission it is to serve the underserved, and find real-world solutions to every day challenges."
Each year, Ross works with the local schools and university to help guide and advise students as they continue down the path of their education. Whether taking part in fundraisers, or hosting in-person meetings with student groups, Ross dedicates his time and attention to helping our youth to learn about their community with a firsthand look at what makes it work.
"One of my favorite fundraisers is the Aliso Niguel High School Dance Club Car Wash to support the program and fund their travel to national competitions."
Ross has somehow become well-known for his musical "talents" and is invited to perform with a variety of community groups, including "Mary's Minstrels" at The Covington Senior Community in Aliso Viejo.
"About 8 years ago, one of our 2nd Grade Classes asked me to learn how to play the Ukulele so I could perform the song "Lava" for them. It took some practice, but I finally mastered all 3 chords. An important lesson I learned, was to always perform for an audience under the age of 8 or over the age of 80. They are both very forgiving audiences and rarely complain"
Every community is comprised of many segments; students, families, seniors, and businesses. In many cases, the local economy supports nonprofits and their important work. Whether large corporations, or small local businesses, their role is important. Over the two decades that Ross has served the community, he has included a focus on small business. Each year, Ross hosts an event called "Meet the Merchants," encouraging residents to gather in retail centers and get to know the small business owners that make up the backbone of our local economy and provide services and retail merchandise.
